Sitting on the bed, I was ready for a full blown revelation that night after I asked God for it. Just something I wasn’t aware of that He wanted to tell me. So I began reading. I started with Genesis and read through the story of God creating the heavens and earth and continued reading…
“Did God really say you must not eat any of the fruit in the garden?” Satan asked Eve. Her answer was: “Of course we may eat it”, “Its only the fruit from the tree at the centre of the garden that we are not allowed to eat otherwise we would die”
See how strategic Satan works… He lets Eve to be focused on one tree, making her blind to other trees around her.
Then Satan continues…
“You won’t die! God knows your eyes will be opened, you will become just like God, knowing everything both good and evil!” he said.
Eve was convinced, looked at the fruit again which looked fresh and delicious, took the fruit, ate it and gave it to her husband to also take a bite.Their eyes opened, they noticed they were naked… Sin sneaked in and made them to feel ashamed so they hid…
As believers we should resist Satan by its onset. We should stand strong in faith. The only way to really resist Satan is to speak the Truth out, and that is Gods Word. Satan loves to deceive. Notice that God never told Eve that she would know both good and evil and that she will look like God. That was a lie… God only said: “Don’t touch the fruit from the tree of good and evil, otherwise you will die”. God gives us instructions.
The only thing we ought to do is to obey it. We know His instructions. Notice that Satan made Eve to desire to “know good and Evil and therefore ‘look like God’ ”, Satan decieved her, by letting her concentrate on the fruit and asking her questions and lie to her. What she had to do is continue to speak the Truth like Jesus did in Matthew 4: 1-11. Satan just had to try once with Eve and he got her, but it took some time with Jesus and Jesus won…
Satan wants us to forget who God really is… God is good and let us make our own choices, otherwise we would be robots and that is not Gods will at all. He wants us to truly trust Him and know He has good intentions for us, not bad one… Otherwise He wouldn’t have said that ‘He cares for you’ (1 Peter 5:7). We ought not to be deceived, because God has given us all the tools to know the Truth, by hearing (tv, radio etc.) and reading (His Word, the Bible) which sets us free from deception which causes confusion that leads to sadness and frustration. God has good plans for us and that is something we should always have in our minds.
