Introduction:
Have you ever found yourself making excuses for why you can’t do something? Maybe it’s starting a new business, pursuing a dream, or even just reading your Bible regularly. We’ve all been there, but as Christians, we have the power of God on our side. In this blog post, we will explore what the Bible says about overcoming obstacles and how we can stop making excuses and start living the life God has called us to.
Excuses in the Bible
The Bible is full of stories of people making excuses for why they couldn’t do what God was calling them to do. Moses, for example, tried to convince God that he was not the right person to lead the Israelites out of Egypt because he was “slow of speech and tongue” (Exodus 4:10). But God told him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” (Exodus 4:11-12).
Similarly, Gideon made excuses for why he couldn’t lead the Israelites to victory over their enemies. But God told him, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive” (Judges 6:16).
These stories remind us that when we make excuses, we are limiting God’s power in our lives. We need to trust in His strength and ability to overcome any obstacle.
Overcoming Obstacles
God does not promise us a life free of obstacles and challenges. In fact, Jesus told His disciples, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The key to overcoming obstacles is not in our own strength, but in relying on God.
Psalm 18:29 says, “With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.” We must remember that we are not alone in our struggles. God is with us and He will give us the strength and wisdom we need to overcome any obstacle.
Stop Making Excuses
As Christians, we have been given a purpose and a calling. It’s time to stop making excuses and start living out that purpose. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
We need to trust in God’s plan for our lives and stop relying on our own understanding. When we surrender our plans to God, He will direct our steps and guide us towards His will.
But what are some common excuses that hold us back from living out our purpose? Maybe we’re too busy with work, too tired after a long day, or too afraid to take a risk. These excuses are all too familiar, but they are also easily overcome with God’s help.
If we’re too busy, we can prioritize our time and make room for what matters most. If we’re too tired, we can rely on God’s strength to sustain us. And if we’re too afraid, we can trust in God’s plan and take a step of faith.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we must remember that we serve a powerful God who is able to do far more than we could ever imagine. When we stop making excuses and trust in His strength, we will be able to overcome any obstacle that comes our way. As 2 Timothy 1:7
